    Why govts should invest in tourism, by cleric

    Government at all levels have been urged to harness tourism potentials across Nigeria to boost the country’s economy.

    The planter of the Christ Apostolic Church, (Adamimogo Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain) World-wide. Prophet Sam Olu Alo, who gave the advice, lamented that the nation’s tourism destinations were largely left untapped.

    He called on the governments to invest on and develop our culture, historical sites, prayer mountains and other tourists delights to create employment and generate more revenues.

    Prophet Alo spoke in Jerusalem, Israel, where he led some pilgrims from Nigeria on pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

    He said: “We have things that can make our country great and successful in this nation . Ikogosi Warm Spring, prayer mountains, historical spots, better than those in foreign countries we are travelling to but we don’t attach any importance to them and this is bringing challenges and discomfort.

    “My advice to our leaders, the President, governors, National Assembly
    members and House of Assembly members can use the privileges they have to develop our tourist sites by investing heavily on them, tourists will be visiting all these places.

    “Take Israel for example, tourists from across the world always come in their numbers to visit the country, it is because their government developed their tourist sites to make it attractive to the visitors. And through that, they generate employment for the their people. this is also what is happening in Mecca. Some of the things they developed as tourist attractions represent their culture , tradition and history.

    “If we can emulate them and work on those things God has blessed us with in Nigeria, I believe they will glorify God in our land , increase government source of revenue and help in generating employment for our teeming youths”.

    The man of God charged his co- pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Jesus wherever they are with good works and character.

    “The most important aspect of it is for us to love one another. It is still missing in our country Nigeria and is causing problems and pains in the country, if we search for the love and find it, our families, homes and country will be better for it”.

    The cleric was commended by the Daily Post state correspondent, Mr Toyin Anisulowo for sponsoring him and many other media practitioners (journalists and broadcasters) on the pilgrimage.

    “He is a man of God that will pray for you and give you logistics. Among men of God, his style of of helping people is unique. I pray God will renew his anointing, grace and send unto him destiny helpers”.

    Prophet Alo also travelled to UK from Israel to attend a programe organized to mark the third year anniversary of the Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain and Glorious Generation Partners, UK and EU chapter.

    He was at the Abuja House, the Headquarters of the Federal Government in the United Kingdom on the visitation of Nigeria High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Alhaji Sarafat Tunji Isola

    The Man of God who received a warm welcome from the envoy used the opportunity to pray for Nigeria and encouraged everyone to work towards peace and love of our country and the present government.

    He prayed that Nigeria will witness comfort, peace and joy in this government of President Bola Tinubu and the Vice President, Kashim Shettima.

    RCCG Region 37 holds maiden open-air crusade

    The Intercontinental Evangelist of the Redeemed Christian Church of God       (RCCG), Pastor Johnson Tomisin Kalejaiye, the Regional Pastor of Region 37, RCCG, Pastor Henry Adeyemo and other anointed ministers have been billed to minister at the maiden Open Air Crusade, organized by the region scheduled to hold on the 30th of June at Agege Stadium, Lagos.

    The programme tagged: ‘God of Wonders,’ will bring together thousands of Christian faithful from across the country. It will feature prayers, song rendition, prophetic ministration, free feeding, and transportation from different parts of Lagos.

    Speaking with The Nation, Pastor Adeyemo said that the programme is aimed at reaching out to Nigerians with the message of Jesus that saves, delivers, and sets the captive free.

    He said that God of wonders is still at work and if Nigerians can acknowledge his love and sacrifice on the cross for their salvation, wonders will never elude them.

    “It is obvious that the world is confused and shattered and people are warring in parts of the world. Economists and politicians have continued to fail the expectations of the people. It is only in Jesus that through freedom, provision, and deliverance can be found,” he said.

    He cited the scriptures saying that righteousness exalts a nation but sin brings reproach to any people, adding that Nigeria will experience the supernatural as we run to Jesus.

    Adeyemo posited that God has promised to do the miraculous as Nigerians gathered to seek his face at this open-air crusade.

    BSN donates Bibles, relief materials to pupils, parents

    The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has donated bibles, relief materials, and back-to-school packs worth N2,124,864 to the pupils and parents of Local Government Authority Primary School 1 and 2, at Ogbonwankwo Street in Ajegunle, Lagos State.

    This was stated in a statement released to The Nation recently by BSN Manager, Media and PR, Benjamin Mordi.

    Mordi said that the society carried out the donation through its Macedonian Call Project.

    He stated that while the pupils received school bags, notebooks, and biros, their parents received relief materials such as toiletries, beverages, and food items. All interested parents and pupils also got gently used clothes.

    Speaking after the presentation of the items, the Head of Section, Social Mobilisation, Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Education Authority, Mr. Oduntan Sunday Olukoya, said, “We are grateful to The Bible Society of Nigeria for this wonderful initiative. This will go a long way in helping the pupils and their families, especially in these difficult times. We hope that other organisations will emulate this gesture and support our community.”

    One of the teachers in the school, Mrs. Alatise Balkis, also thanked The Society for coming to the aid of the pupils and their parents, adding that the gesture would serve as a succour to the recipients. Also reacting to the donation, Habiba Muhammed, a parent, said, “I am very happy. God bless The Bible Society of Nigeria. Thank you very much.”

    Earlier, the Production and Programmes Manager of The BSN, Mrs. Grace Benjamin, explained to the expectant parents and pupils that the BSN initiated the project to reach out to families in underprivileged communities across the country, especially those in Internally Displaced Camps (IDPs) and those living in slums.

    The Chairman of the O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation, Dr. Seinye Lulu-Briggs, has recently been conferred with a Fellowship by the Baptist College of Theology, Obinze, Imo State, at its 54th Graduation/Fellowship Award ceremony.

    Receiving the fellowship with so much admiration, Dr. Lulu-Briggs said she was deeply humbled and excited by the College’s recognition of her commitment to kingdom work, which is her life’s work.

    On the Fellowship awarded to Dr Seinye Lulu-Briggs, the Acting Rector of the College, Rev (Prof) Reuben Chuga said it was in recognition of her extraordinary humanitarian efforts and kingdom service.

     Eminent Nigerians, including the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr Israel Adelani Akanji, Commander of 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Brig.-Gen. Sani Sulaiman and federal lawmaker Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chinda, among others, attended the ceremony.

    Activities marking the 59th anniversary of Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Worldwide (MCCSW) end on Sunday with a grand thanksgiving scheduled for the church’s international cathedral at Ajah, Lagos

    The thanksgiving will be presided by the Prelate Baba Aladura Elder Israel Akinadewo  *FCA, PhD, who doubles as the President of the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC). 

    It will be the culmination of a one-week celebration that included charity day, community service, bible exposition, bible quiz, prophetic hour and documentary. 

    The church was founded on  June 14, 1964, by Saint Isaiah Motailatu Akinadewo. 

    A statement by the anniversary committee chairman Special. Apostle Julius Opasola and secretary Mother-In-Israel Jemimah Dosunmu explained the activities were aimed at 

     strengthening the faith of members, deepening their biblical knowledge and fostering unity among believers.

    On Friday, there would be captivating documentary highlighting the visionary journey of MCCSW for participants to gain valuable insights into the church’s history, its founding principles and the impactful work it has accomplished over the years. 

    “This documentary will serve as a testament to the faithfulness and grace of God,” the statement explained. 

    On Saturday, esteemed leaders, pastors and experts will share valuable insights on effective leadership in the context of the church and the community during a conference. 

    The statement added: “The conference aims to equip attendees with practical tools, strategies, and inspiration to enhance their leadership skills and make a positive impact in their spheres of influence.”

    The founder of Rhema Christian Church & Towers Ota, Ogun State, Bishop Taiwo Akinola, has listed areas that should be the priorities of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

    Akinola spoke at the weekend during the closing ceremony of New wine/fresh fire conference organised by Christ Global Network at the church.

    The four-day conference with the them ‚Greater works than these shall he do attracted hundreds of worshippers.

    He urged Tinubu to unify the nation, pointing out the last general elections greatly polarised Nigeria.

    Stressing on the need to make ‘’administration work for the collective interest of all Nigerians,’’ the former university don advised ‘’this new administration show a clear departure from the past by embracing inclusiveness, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, region or gender.‘‘

    He also appealed for rule of law, stating ‘‘a situation whereby some are regarded as sacred cows must be abolished. Let the law be applied equally and fairly as it’s done in every sane society.’’

    On subsidy removal, the cleric said the pains were unavoidable but called on the new administration to prioritise local production of refined petrol products, stating the Dangote Refinery could help but must not be allowed to attain a monopolistic position.

    Akinola called on Tinubu to reduce national debt, stating that borrowing should never be for consumption but production of wealth and national prosperity.

    According to him: ‘’While we do not outrightly condemn borrowing, we support the school of thought that borrowed funds should not be used for consumption on recurrent expenditure, but rather channeled into productive ventures and infrastructural development. Nevertheless, we expect to see a different approach to borrowing from the current administration.’’


    He said the new administration must galvanise and diversify the economy because oil wealth is clearly not enough to sustain the nation again.

    On insecurity, he said: ‘‘We expect that the new administration should immediately review the current security strategy, rejig the entire security architecture, provide more funding and shift from a reactionary approach to focusing on intelligence gathering that will proactively help to nip such planned attacks in the bud.’’

    He commended the Electricity Act 2023, which replaces the 2005 Electricity and Power Sector Reform Act but called for ‘’implementation of this Act in a manner that the benefits can be credited to the well-being of our people.’’

    He called for aggressive war against corruption as well as massive investment in education to create job and address restiveness among youths.

    OAIC greets Nigerians on Democracy Day, advises Tinubu

    The Organisation of African Instituted Churches(OAIC) have congratulated Nigerians on the celebration of Democracy Day

    According to it’s National President Elder Israel Akinadewo, Nigerians deserve credits for consolidating democratic governance and upholding the principles of freedom, justice and equality. 

    The OAIC, in a statement to mark the Democracy Day, also congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his inauguration, expressing optimism he will lead Nigeria to the Promised Land. 

    While praising Tinubu on his first steps in office, Akinadewo urged him to make “inclusive appointments with Nigerians from different region, ethnicities, religions and genders to key positions.” 

    The body further urged him to make the appointments based on merit-based criteria, including “competence and integrity over political considerations,” stating only those with track records of performance should be considered.

    OAIC also appealed to Tinubu to collaborate with Civil Society Organisations(CSOs), religious leaders and community-based institutions on decision-making for the dividends of democracy to trickle down to the grassroots. 

    Tinubu, according to Akinadewo, should also strengthen institutions by promoting their “independence, effectiveness and transparency to endanger public confidence in governance.”

    The body further appealed to Tinubu to “prioritise investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, job creation and poverty alleviation to uplift the lives of Nigerians through promotion of sustainable economic growth that is inclusive, equitable and environmentally friendly while addressing the challenges of inequality and marginalisation.”

    As part of activities to mark the 2023 edition of the Widows Support Programme, His Heavenly Light Ministry, Lekki, has lifted over 100 widows.

    Justifying the need for the empowerment programme, the Convener, Rev.  Dr. Cecelia Onitiri said this was part of her calling and divine mandate.

    According to her, although resources are scarce, she believes strongly that the Lord who called her will provide the enablement and send helpers to assist towards improving the plights of widows, just as she appealed to prospective partners and donors to support the lofty ideal and idea behind the project. Of greater concern to her are the very young widows with very young babies and children.

    Onitiri said that since its inception, the Ministry had provided medical support for the widows with the support of some public-spirited Nigerians.

     To this end, she expressed gratitude to  Kleinberg Medical Centre Victoria Island led by its Medical Director, Dr. Akeem Anifowose, who has been a great partner.

     One of the major highlights of the event was the lecture and pep talk by seasoned professionals.

     The Guest Minister, a retired banker, Pastor (Mrs) Abiola Olaide Adewale, who spoke on ‘God’s special care for widows,’ encouraged the participants to be steadfast in whatever they do in order to reap bountiful rewards and benefits.

     Also, a cross-section of resource persons namely: Mrs Mabel Ogbeni, Mrs Saidat Ogunya and Alhaja Bisi Sule spoke to the widows extensively on business startups, noting that entrepreneurship was one way they could get themselves out of the poverty trap.

     The high point of the occasion was the presentation of cheques to the over 100 beneficiaries to support various business initiatives.
