  • Sniffy confident on next single ‘Slowly’

    Following the release of his single, ‘Play Love’, Solomon Ifeanyi who is also known as ‘Sniffy’ has disclosed that he is working on another song titled ‘Slowly.’

    Speaking about the song, the Delta State indegene who discovered his singing ability at a tender age while mimicking music legend Micheal Jackson said the song will blow listeners’ minds because of the quality he has put in it.

    The songwriter ia condident that his yet to be released singles OMG, Slowly and Controller will rock the music industry when released any moment from now.

    “I have worked on a video (Play Love) that have made me proud as an entertainer and my next project is already in the works (visuals for my new unrealesed single Slowly) but will requre time to get done” said Sniffy.

    “Besides that,I’m just trying to evolve my self as an artist which includes my sound and my Dancing style.I went a bit harder with my tracks lately,but I can’t say anything about the sounds I will create in the future.”

    Sniffy, who has released four songs including ‘Love You’, ‘Go Low’, ‘Ibadi’ and ‘Strongthing’ is a Chemistry graduate from the University of Abuja.

  • God will not forgive you, Daddy Showkey tells Mamuzee Twins

    Galala exponent, John Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey is not quick to air his view on sensitive matters, but when he does, he doesnt mince words.

    In a no-holds-barred clip posted on instagram, the singer took two of his industry colleagues, Anthonio Akpos Dixon and Andre Andos Dixon, better known as Mamuzee Twins to the cleaners for allegedly abandoning their mother during her time of illness only for them to turn around and start celebrating her after her demise.

    According to Showkey, the best person on whose face to put a smile on is one’s mum.

    “This message is for two idiots,” he said.

    “I called them and told them their mum was in comma, that they should call their mum, or go and see their mom. They refused. Today, they are putting their mum on Instagram for people to be giving them condolence. God will not forgive you.”

    Showkey also had strong words for preachers who accuse their members’ mothers of being witches. In his opinion, they should mind their business and expect the wrath of God.

    “Make una go. If my mama na winch, wetin concern all una. Na God go judge all of una. And that two idiots dem, God no go forgive una, for wetin una do una mama.”

    He wrote; “Romans 6: 5. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: It please’s God to call my Mom, yesterday back unto His glory! Adieu Mommy……Rest in perfect peace in the bossom of Lord.”

  • MARY J. BLIGE officially divorces Kendu Isaacs

    Grammy winner, Mary J. Blige and her husband, Kendu Isaacs, are officially divorced, ET confirms. According to court documents, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge signed off on the divorce yesterday.

    The news comes three months after the former couple settled their divorce out of court. Blige filed for divorce from Isaacs in July 2016 after 13 years of marriage.

    Last June, a judge ordered Blige to pay Isaacs $30,000 a month in temporary spousal support, in addition to $135,000 retroactively dating back to Sept. 1, 2016. Blige was also to pay $100,000 in attorney’s fees and expert costs, which is less than the $167,000 in fees and costs that Isaacs was requesting.

    It’s been an eventful year for Blige, who was nominated for two Oscars; ‘Best Supporting Actress’ and ‘Best Original Song’ for Mudbound. The singer was even thrown an over-the-top party by JAY-Z and Beyonce.

  • Ijebu, Nkechi Blessing now car owners

    Counted as a big achievement in the entertainment industry, two Yoruba actors Olatayo Amokade, known as Ijebu, and rising actress Nkechi Blessing, have joined the league of car owners.

    The two actors who have since been getting congratulatory messages from their colleagues described their achievements as one of the benefits of hard work.

    Nkechi Blessing, who was said to have been in an online fight with Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim, said: “Thank God sey man no be God. Of a truth hard work pays.  Thank you Lord, omo ologo didan.”

    The actress got herself a white Toyota Venza and credits her hard work for making it possible.

    For comic actor, Olatayo Amokade, known as Ijebu, who also posted the picture of his new car, it was time  to appreciate his creator for the new gift.

    “Alhamdulilahi kosi kekere ore. Thank you Allah for your grace.”

    Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus, has signed a new contract as Western Lotto and Bet ambassador.

    The company welcomed the actress known as ‘GbogboBigzGirls’, on their social platform, showing her off as she signs the contract documents.

    Also excited about the new move to success, she wrote, “That moment @westernlottobet”.

    Also a 9mobile ambassador, Badmus joins the likes of AY Makun, Ramsey Nouah, Odunlade Adekola, Kemi Afolabi, and former Super Eagles attacking midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju, among others on the lottery brand.

    The actress, whose new movie ‘Ghetto Bred’, is currently running in cinemas, will be taking the cast of the movie on a ‘Meet & Greet’, being her first produced movie in the cinemas.

  • Olajumoke plays the role model

    As a way of firing passion in children, bread seller turned model, Olajumoke Orisaguna, may have motivated pupils of Multivariate Nursery and Primary School, Citiview Estate, Warewa, Ogun State.

    During her visit to the school, Olajumoke challenged the pupils to be focused and remain committed to their course in life.

    Speaking of her humble beginning, she said she was able to rise to stardom because she was hardworking and committed to godly activities.

    Olajumoke further said children need to prioritise education to achieve their objectives in life.

    The director of the school, Roseline Nduka, commended Olajumoke’s passion for children, adding that the school remains committed to developmental programmes for the children.

  • ‘Fat’ people to fight stigma with TV

    In a bid to celebrate plus-size people, an online shopping platform, Dial a Vendor, has concluded plans to stage its online television show tagged ‘You are worth it.’

    Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Dial a Vendor, Anu Orobosa, said this at the press conference for the pre-launch of the TV show held last week in Lagos. According to her, the show is a 30-minute programme that would be aired bi-monthly and shown to over 10, 000 viewers from around the world through various platforms.

    “You Are Worth it’ was birthed for curvy people,” said Arobosa, who is also plus-size.

    She also regretted that many plus-size people suffer societal stigma, noting that in this era where how you look determines the way you are addressed, curvy people are looked at as the less-fortunate.

    She opined that people of size 12 upwards will be chosen randomly to win a makeover, using a marketing campaign on social media. Diallers will be given a chance to partner with us (Dial a Vendor) to create an unforgettable experience for the lucky contestants whilst showcasing their brands.

    Arobosa added that the lucky contestants will undergo a makeover (clothes, make-up, shoes, bags, accessories and much more) while being filmed across different online platforms.

  • Top artistes set to perform at 2018 BET Awards

    As many look forward to those who will be lifting laurels at this year’s edition of Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards, taking place at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday, 24 June 2018, organisers have announced some of the artistes who will be performing at the event.

    According to Viacom International Media Networks Africa multimedia portfolio, the first group of performers set to take the stage at the show include music stars like Nicki Minaj, Migos, Janelle Monáe, H.E.R. and Ella Mai.

    Hosted by Jamie Foxx, the Awards which will premier across Africa on BET (DStv channel 129) on Tuesday, June 26 June, 2018 has nominees from Africa and Europe (as voted for by an academy of industry experts) who will compete for the Best International Act category, with the winner being honoured as part of the US broadcast.

    Recall that DJ Khaled dominates this year’s nominations with a total of six categories, including ‘Video of the Year,’ two for ‘Best Collaboration,’ with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller for ‘Wild Thoughts,’ and with Jay-Z, Future and Beyoncé for ‘Top Off,’ ‘Album of the Year,’ and ‘Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice.’

  • I’ve no hand in remake of ‘LIVING IN BONDAGE’

    Co-writer and producer of 1992 thriller, ‘Living in Bondage’, Okey Ogunjiofor, has stated that he is not part of the plan to re-make the movie.

    Speaking to The Nation in a phone chat, Ogunjiofor who claimed that he also read the news in the media, and has been getting calls to confirm the story, said he is yet to be contacted.

    ‘Living in Bondage’ is quite historical in the Nigerian motion picture industry for sparking the home video revolution in 1992, and a sequel that was released in 1993, leading the trend for which the Nigerian film industry is being called Nollywood today.

    Ogunjiofor remark is however contrary to claims by producers of the planned remake, who announced in 2015 that they acquired the license to re-write from Kenneth Nnebue, who helmed the 1992 film.

    The new sequel which will be directed by Ramsey Nouah and his entrepreneur friend, Charles Okpaleke, will see some old faces like Kenneth Okwonkwo, Bob-Manuel Udokwu and Kanayo O. Kanayo returning in the script.

    While new additions include Ramsey Nouah, taking up a villainous role, as well as Enyinna Nwigwe, while other roles are yet to be released.

    With the work having been announced in 2015, the kick-off of production was said to have taken this long because the crew are trying  to use the original to create the same feel for the third instalment, which according to Nouah has not been an easy task.

    Although there is no release date for the new film yet, but depending on the availability of space in the cinema, December is set for the market of the movie.

    ‘Living in Bondage’ is a 1992/93 Nigerian two-part drama thriller film directed by Chris Obi Rapu, written by Kenneth Nnebue and Okey Ogunjiofor and produced by the latter.

    The film starred Kenneth Okonkwo and Nnenna Nwabueze in their breakout roles.

  • I want my song to be used by Disney, says Lami Philips

    Alter Plate Music first female artiste, Lami Phillips, has revealed how she dreamed that her first song would be used as one of Disney’s theme songs.

    The Neo-Soul/Afro-pop singer, stage and screen actor said: “My first love was music. I wrote my first song when I was eight years old and all my siblings can still sing the song.

    “I planned on sending it to Disney. Years later, I realized that reality can rob you of your ability to create and dream big so when you want to make magic you’ve gotta close your eyes and go back to that place where everything and anything is possible. There’s a lot of noise and a lotta opinions. Be you, never lose your voice! Even as an actor, it’s up to you to interpret that character. I know mediocrity is celebrated, surround yourself with directors that will bring out the best in you. Don’t settle for less.”

    Currently working on a soon-to-be released documentary on Lami’s journey to her sophomore album, ‘Pieces of Love’ and personal stories is work in progress; a glimpse into who Lami is, and what her music stands for.

    Also her initiative ‘Be The Change’, is a charity that is focused on helping children and the less fortunate.
