  • ‘We need home grown solution to tackle Covid-19’

‘We need home grown solution to tackle Covid-19’

As the country gradually eases the three-month old lockdown due to Covid-19, Presiding Bishop of Holy Ghost Mission (Happy Family Centre), Bishop Charles Ighele, spoke to Adeola Ogunlade about his perception of the lock down, leadership displays by public officials, the place of God in tackling Covid-19 and the need for a home grown solution to the pandemic

WHAT is your perception about the Coronavirus pandemic and the lock down that has ravage the world in the last three months?

Three months down the line, it is evident that the pandemic is real and from the beginning, I knew that it is real and is a plague like some other plague that have come before and then, those that will still come again in fulfillment of the signs of the end time. This one has come and is still there. It is real. Also, I was able to discover different times of leaders, Presidents, Prime Ministers of nations, Governors of states and the way they reacted in Nigeria and other countries. I saw that there are some leaders who handle the matter of the plague very well and they provider leadership in place of fear.

If a leader is leading out of fear, there will be a problem; there will be no hope for the people. A leader must not lead the people out of fear even if there is a problem, a leader gives people hope. I am not saying that the problem should be played down, because if you played it down, you are deceiving the people. Leaders must let the people know that there is a problem, and proffer solutions on how to overcome it.  In some of the states in Nigeria, it is evident that the lock down was done out of fear, so the fear went down from the leaders to the people.

I also saw that some leaders were listening to a lot to locally and international news outlets whose job was to broadcast what was happening and then, you know that in journalism, bad news sells more than good news. So, many headlines were about the disaster and the tragedies around Coronavirus. So, even when some people were given hope the hope were dashed. Do you know that some leaders and governors were fed with some of the news from these stations and they now pass it down the fear to the people. Some of the lock down were done out of fear and not out of any realization of what do we do as a nation to provide a home grown solution. So, some acted out of fear and ignorance.

Also, some leaders were ready to bring home grown solution and handle the fear and see how the economy will go on a little and not totally lock down. The United State of America President, some Governors in USA and some leaders in other countries acted that way. Yet, there were some leaders who try to balance it and see what is peculiar to their nature to handle the pandemic, what I called the homegrown solution. The total lock down is not a home grown solution. Thirdly, another set of leaders, all they gave to their people was only hope as if nothing was happening, whereas something was really happening. The pandemic was there. It is a scam for those leaders to says nothing was happening whereas the pandemic was there ravaging among the people.  If you are a leaders, am a spiritual leaders, I know what I did to provide leadership for my people in the churches that I pastor. I had to use a leadership style on what to do to stand with the understanding that there is a problem and how to handle it. I learnt how to stay emotionally and spiritually.

In your study of plagues in the past, is there any similarity or different with Coronavirus?

The difference is that like the Bubonic plague of 1336, the way its killed people cannot be compared with Coronavirus. Its killed people like Mosquitoes. People were dyeing and recovery rate of the previous plagues were very low but this Coronavrius plague pandemic, the recovery is very high.

Then, I also I found that with this plague and another plagues was that while people in some nations died more, only few people in other countries died. There was a plague that was taken from United Kingdom to the United State of America, and unfortunate many people who contacted the virus in USA died whereas, the Europeans that brought it, only few died. That gave me a similar idea about this Coronavirus.

I know that the number of infected persons and casualty recorded in Nigeria is way below the mark in Nigeria. Like the President Task Force said that in the Eastern part of the country, not much testing is being done.

From what I know and hear, the casualty is by far more than it’s expected. Coronavirus arrived in the US not long its came to Nigeria, how come, over 100,000 have died in the US and we don’t have that figure here in Nigeria. Then, we can say that America population is more than that of Nigeria but why UK with a lesser population had by far death than Nigeria with a bigger population. While in India with 1.2 billion people had recorded only about 8,884 death. Why is it so. As far as I am concerned, leadership in these nations should put our head together and asked why it is so and way are we going.  In my thinking, my mind went to Malaria.

Do we need to develope homegrown solutions to some of our public health challenge?

Why is that the malaria rate is so high in Nigeria that in most hospitals most of the patients there are people down with malaria or Typhoid fever. I am not advocating that we should not spend our time on doing research on Coronavirus but let governments do something and come out with drugs that can treat malaria that will be nonresistance. We need more research and attention to malaria.

Nigeria is one of the headquarters of malaria sickness in the whole world, then, let us have home grown solutions and we should stop imported drugs from the Arabian countries. Many of the drugs will import from those countries are resistance, let government if they really care about our people, let them go and research on why and what can be done to produce nonresistance drugs to treat malaria so people don’t died of malaria

Your constituency which is the church and has been locked down for few months; I know you and some other church leaders are averse to this lock down of the church? Why?

The people have different perception about the church. There are churches set up by man to make money, and some of them become famous. There are also churches set by Satan and there are churches that have power and some that lack power. In all these, there remains a genuine church of Christ.  Jesus said that I will build my church and the gate of hell shall not prevail against it. I am saying that the genuine church of Christ is there. I want to say very clearly that some governors acted beyond their powers.  The government is man-made and should know where is power is. The bible says give unto Caesar what is Caesar and to God, what is God. I want some of them to think again, some of them reacted out of fear.

They should have call the church leaders and ask them what to do. I know some church leaders are friends to some Governors and some governors equally consulted some of the church leaders on whether or not to lock down the church but those church leaders who reacted out of fear advice that the church be locked down. See the President of Tanzanian, who is a medical doctor, with a PHD in Chemistry recently congratulated the church leaders in His country, saying that they prayed for the people selflessly. And then, the effect of it in Tanzania was very minimal.

He told the people take Holy Communion but in Nigeria, it was a different bulk game. When the governor says don’t give Holy Communion, you are going beyond your power. Instead, allow the church leaders to look for ways to give Holy Communion without large gathering. Give to Cesar to Cesar and to God, what is to God. In the midst of the Black Death plague that happened in the 1347, as the people were dying. King George called on the church to continue to pray. Some Governor think that prayer cannot do anything but when it comes to contesting election, they will say please pray for me.

I want to state here that as the government in finding solution to the pandemic should also consult the church for solution. There are lots of people who are positive with Coronavirus and they are getting their healing. We must seek God in our search for solution to this pandemic. God cannot fail when we call on him for help.

  • Kingdom stewardship: Gateway to realms of breakthroughs!

Kingdom stewardship: Gateway to realms of breakthroughs!

    Bishop David Oyedepo

WELCOME to July! I have no doubt that many of us must have had an encounter with the supernatural all through the month of June, 2020. My prayer is that your encounter will be for a lifetime and you will begin to operate in the realm of the supernatural ‘sweatlessly’, in Jesus name! This week, we shall focus on: Kingdom Stewardship: Gateway to Realms of Breakthroughs!

From Scriptures, we understand that a covenant to serve God with all our heart, soul and body is the gateway to a world of all-round fulfilment. Concerning Judah, the Bible records, And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul; That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. And they sware unto the Lord with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets. And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about (2 Chronicles 15:12-15). As a result of their covenant to serve God, there was no more war (2 Chronicles 15:19). Also, stewardship is ordained for profitability. As it is written, In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury (Proverbs 14:23). This implies that no one ever pursue God and the interest of His Kingdom at a loss. When we pursue God and the interest of His Kingdom with our heart, we make marks without stress in all our engagements. Active, productive and fruitful stewardship will always cause the giant in us to rise and continuity is the only guarantee for it to come alive. Remember, God is not looking for whom to use, He is simply looking for whom to bless and every instruction from Scriptures we engage with releases God’s blessings upon our lives.

For God to reward us, we must:

    • Serve Him Joyfully: God has better alternatives than us. He is not a task master; He only offers us opportunities that will lead to our blessings. We must serve Him joyfully or it becomes an offense. For it is written, Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee (Deuteronomy 28:47-48). Thus, if we won’t stop serving God with joyfulness and gladness of heart we will never get stranded in life because He is a rewarder of them that serve Him. When our joy perishes, our harvest perishes (Joel 1:12).
    • Serve Him Faithfully: It is written, His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord (Matthew 25:21). Only the faithful ever becomes fruitful in the Kingdom because faithfulness is what births fruitfulness (Proverbs 28:20).

Remember, every truth of Scriptures is valid but it takes serving God to take delivery. That is why passing the test of service is what qualifies us for change of levels in the Kingdom. However, to serve God faithfully, it is important to maintain the right attitude in our service to Him. This is because it takes a pure heart to qualify for rewards in stewardship. Scripture says, And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart (2 Chronicles 25:2). Hence, our hearts must constantly be in tune with God’s purpose in any task we engage with. Stewardship is designed for profitability but there are certain conditions to be met for it to be profitable and among these is maintaining a right heart that qualifies us for returns.

What is in it for Us When Stewardship Becomes Our Way of Life?

    • Unfailing Reward: The Bible says, I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour (1 Corinthians 3:6, 8). This means, everyone shall be rewarded according to his/her own labour of service.
    • Enthronement: It is written, And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the Lord (Jeremiah 30:21).
    • Healing, Health and Wholeness: As it is written, And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee (Exodus 23:25; see also John 15:2; Daniel 12:3).

In conclusion, serving God is not a gift or a calling; it is a choice. Therefore, to operate in this realm, you must be born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I know I am born again! The Bishop of Methodist Church,Nigeria, Owo Diocese in Ondo state, Rt. Rev’d Solomon Adegbite has urged the Federal Government to clear its name by addressing insecurity that seemingly targeted at Christians.

In certain quarters, there had been outburst on perceived ethnic cleansing and targeting of Christians for annihilation.

The cleric gave the charge at the weekend while addressing the 32nd Annual Diocesan Synod held at the Methodist Church,Odode,Idanre.

Adegbite noted that it is like the nation was being configured to favour a particular section of the country.

According to him:” There is an evidence of sharp division along ethnic and religious lines which has been so glaring since the present administration came on board.

” The killings of innocent Nigerians have been going on unabated as if some people are licensed to kill and destroy other peoples’ property even without any provocations.”

The cleric also charged the Federal Government to provide enabling environment for all and sundry, stressing the suspicious policies on grazing, ranching, colony, rugs and giving of land to herdsmen who have been ravaging the land are not in the right direction.

However, Adegbite lauded the floating of Amotekun(Southwest Security Network), urging the Southwest Governors to work assiduously and ensure the conception of the security outfit.

  • ‘Dreams are spiritual weapons’

    ‘Dreams are spiritual weapons’

    John Ofikhenua, Abuja

Founder and Senior Pastor of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, has charged Nigerians to pay attention to their dreams.

He described dreams as a spiritual weapons for overcoming mounting challenges.

In a sermon on Sunday, Fufeyin said God uses dream to prepare people for exponential shifts.
His words : “Everyone dreams. Dreams are God’s avenue to prepare you for significant occasions, and exponential shifts.”

Fufeyin said his church has anchored a special programme tagged “Dreams, Interpretations and Solutions (DIS)”, disclosing it would better guide children of God on the interpretations of their dreams, as it is essential to solving spiritual quagmires.

Fufeyin urged people from all walks of life, regardless of their religious affiliations or denominations, to take their dreams very seriously as things only manifest physically when they have been concluded spiritually,

“Kings, Queens, and people of great societal status do not joke with their dreams because they understand it’s non-negotiable importance to humanity. It is important to dream but more importantly, clarity is of great necessity if anything good must come out of your dreams. Dream interpretations gives proper direction to your prayers because once the cause of a problem is known the solution is not far; this is why it is even more imperative to seek prophetic interpretations and solutions to your dreams.

“One cannot afford to trivialize dreams anymore because they can also be utilized by the devil, to manipulate the future if not fully understood,” he stated.

According to him, it has been realised that all dreams are significant, and that God has blessed a few men with the Josephic ability to interpret dreams and proffer effective, spirit-given solutions.

Fufeyin added the “Dreams, Interpretations and Solutions, DIS” programme, which has been in existence for years was necessary and directed towards, impacting and transforming millions of lives across the globe.

“This programme has changed the lackadaisical attitude of many believers towards their dreams.

“Pay more attention to your dreams, and connect with the power-packed program, for life changing interpretations and spiritual results!

“Also, feel free to reach out to the Joseph of this generation, a man who God has heavily graced and gifted with the ministry of dream interpretations and solutions,” he stated.

  • ‘Lagos right to suspend reopening of worship centres’

‘Lagos right to suspend reopening of worship centres’

    Adeola Ogunlade

The Senior Pastor of PRAISE ARENA, Kingdom Light Christian Centre, Lekki Lagos, Pastor Jummy Adetoyese-Olagunju, has thrown his weight behind the suspension of reopening of worship centres by the Lagos State Government.

He said reopening of worship centre would pose serious threat to worshippers.

Adetoyese-Olagunju said this while reacting to the indefinite suspension of the reopening worship centres byGovernor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He admitted the initial order for reopening of worship centres was of great concern to him and some church leaders based on the increasing rate of COVID-19 infections.

He noted studies across the world have shown in some countries, the rise in the infections and death rate were traced to religious actvities.

He said: “Opening the religious centers at a time we have such increase in Lagos State is like walking into COVID-19 death trap and no church leader will be happy to see their members dead when the pandemics is eventually over.

“In Africa, we are socially connected based on our culture hence you can’t sustain too much social distance in the churches for too long because of the sense of divine security that may result in non-compliance with the much needed safety precautions.”

He argued it would be difficult to observe social distancing if worship centres reopen.

The cleric charged church leaders to go digital by exploring the possibility of using social media for their services, which he said is also an opportunity for the church talking over the air waves.

“In our church, our online services on Facebook moved from 250 view to more than 30,000 views and 8,000 ThruPlays when we explored ways to reach wider audience across the Country. Necessity is the mother of inventions.

“Although not having the traditional congregational services affected church finances but we are happy that more people are able to hear the transforming messages through wider outreach via online services on the social media, which is the essence of the great commission. God who knows our sincerity will reward our efforts in due season,” he stated.

  • Prophet defends Fufeyin over COVID-19 disappearance prediction

Prophet defends Fufeyin over COVID-19 disappearance prediction

    By John Ofikhenua, Abuja

A Nigerian cleric, Pastor Gideon Isah, has defended Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Warri, Delta State, over allegations by an Ivorian atheist, that his prophecy on the COVID pandemic was false and never came to pass.

In a statement on Sunday, Fufeyin recalled that he had predicted that the novel COVID-19 pandemic currently ravaging the world would gradually disappear across the world, beginning from the end of April.

But, in a reaction to the prediction, an Ivorian atheist, Yanick Aka, in a widely circulated video on social media negated the March 21 prophecy of Fufeyin, describing the prediction as unfulfilled.

Aka was reported to had also insulted Fufeyin as well as other acclaimed Men of God, calling them all sorts of names and making disturbing accusations.

Isah, in an apparent defence of his spiritual father, said Fufeyin’s prediction had came to pass and events currently happening around the world lend credence to that.

According to him, the prophecy was very precise and had clearly stated that the pandemic would gradually starts to end in 38 days, from country to country, and that would occur batch by batch.

“Evidence also clearly shows that this has been the case since late April”, he stated.

The pastor who recalled how Fufeyin predicted the coming of the pandemic in 2014 and 2016, respectively, urged members not to be led astray by “lies of a messenger sent by the enemy of the Body of Christ.”

He described Aka as a psychopath and a puppet to his spiritual father and sponsor, Kacou Philippe, who he said was a highly controversial troublemaker who was convicted and imprisoned in 2016 for his “misleading, satanic and mischievous practices, and subsequently banned from preaching in many countries, for 5 years.”

“The self- proclaimed “Prophet- Messenger” also has four children from four different women, and still had the nerve to use his puppet to point accusing fingers at other men of Faith, because he himself had been banned from continuing his Antichrist activities”, he added.

He stated that things such as going to the mountain to pray or dancing to the glory of God, were things done by the Fathers of Faith, in days of old, and were therefore biblical God-approved practices for men of God to carry out.

Isah declared that the wrath of God would be meted out upon men who tried to distort the word of God in their favor and claim to be demigods on earth as they were Worshiped by their follower.

According to him, Aka and his spiritual father must show proof of how they have been helping their nation and congregation to survive the COVID-19 Lockdown measures, before pointing accusing fingers at men who are making enormous impact, in this period.

He attested to Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin making massive donations and giveaways to the needy, and to assist the Federal Government

  • Enjoying a fulfilling family relationship (1)

Enjoying a fulfilling family relationship (1)

    By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Dear Reader, peace and blessings be multiplied unto you, in Jesus name! I specially welcome you to another beautiful month. I believe God has wonderful things in store for you this month and grace to take hold of them shall be released unto you, in Jesus name! All through this month, I shall be teaching on having a Fulfilling Family Relationship.

Let me begin by defining what relationship means; it is contact and interaction with people. It means to be involved. Whether it is relationship with your husband, wife, children or other extended relatives, God wants you to enjoy a fulfilling relationship. However, for this to happen, you must go about it in an appropriate manner.

Clearly, there are some fundamental facts about relationship that you must know in order to have a most fulfilling one.  They include the following:

    God Relates

God has vital relationship and believes in relationship. In the God head, there is a strong relationship between God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. The Bible says, For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one (1 John 5:7). The statement ‘these three are one’ means that the three agree in one, or are connected; same way God wants us to agree and connect with other people.

    Man was created to Relate

Man was created in the image of God. The Bible clearly shows us that God is relationship-oriented; therefore, man cannot but be relationship oriented.  Have you ever wondered who man was created to have fellowship with? He was created to have fellowship with God and his fellow human beings! The Bible says, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created (Revelation 4:11). To have a distinguished family life, you must have profitable relationships. Remember, Two are better than one… (Ecclesiastes 4:9).

    Relationships are built

I want you to know that good relationships do not just happen; they are made to happen. This means that a good relationship requires investments. Whatever you sow is what you will reap. You have to sow good seeds into your marriage if you want it to work.  The Bible says, A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).

Marriage is the closest form of relationship that exist among men; understand that the best of marriage comes out of the best investment that goes into it. It is what you give that you get back! Therefore, you must be ready to give it your best.

    Relationships Influence You

As married couple, you must understand that the other relationships you keep will always affect you and your marriage positively or negatively. If you associate with those who are not bothered about how their marriage turns out, you cannot have a fulfilling marital life and vice versa. The Bible clearly tells us, Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful (Psalm 1:1).

The story of Amnon in 2 Samuel 13:3 clearly show us that bad relationship can bring shame, violence and untimely death in a family.  Ammon’s friend Jonadab used his subtlety to destroy him. Do not associate with the wrong people if you desire to have a fulfilling marital life. Also, if you are involved in any relationship that is averse to your marriage, now is the time to break it off!

Having a fulfilling relationship with others, begins with your relationship with Christ, you must have Jesus Christ in your life. If you are not yet born again and you desire to do so right now, please pray this prayer with faith in your heart: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus name! Call or write to share your testimonies with me through oyedepofaitha@gmail.com, 07026385437 OR 08141320204.
