Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (Delta Central) has given scholarship to children of the slain All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate for Jeremi Ward III, Delta State, Jeremiah Oghoveta.
Oghoveta was killed during last year’s party congress.
The lawmaker announced the award at Okwagbe, Ughelli South, during his ward-to-ward campaign.
Ovie-Agege, who was accompanied by the Assembly candidate for Ughelli South, Koyoyo Urhrorho, and House of Representative candidate for Ughelli North, South and Udu Federal Constituency, Francis Waive, and party chieftains, also visited Owhawha, Jeremi, Agbon Olomu, Oviri Olomu and other communities in Udu and Ughelli South councils.
Community leaders promised to mobilise their people to vote for Ovie-Agege on February 16.
Omo-Agege said: “I express my condolence to the Oghoveta family on the demise of their son during the congress, leaving behind seven children and his wife.
“It is based on this that I will be awarding scholarships, up to university levels, to his seven children to cushion the pains of the their father’s demise.”
At Okwagbe, Omo-Agege explained the delay trailing the start of the Okwagbe Seaport, saying the Federal Government had approved a River Port in the area based on advice from NIWA.
He, however, promised that upon his return to the Senate, he would pursue the release of funds for the project.
