Command arrests eight suspects

The FCT Police Command said it has arrested eight suspects in connection to the death of a woman in Abuja.

The woman, Esther Okah, was allegedly stabbed by the suspects at Karimo, Abuja after attempt to steal her handbag failed.

The police said she was stabbed in her friend’s car while on her way home from a dinner in Gwarimpa.

Her friend, Gokhan Boyaci, a Turkish, was also stabbed by the suspects when they stopped to ask for direction.

Giving details of how she died, the command’s deputy spokesman, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Danjuma Tanimu, said: “On May 5, at about 0300hrs, Esther Nasikah Okah was stabbed at CBN junction, Ungwan Cement, Karimo, by unknown assailants on her way home after a dinner with friends at Gwarimpa.”

The police said after Esther was confirmed dead, Boyaci went and reported the incident at the Karimo Divisional Headquarters.”

On the number of those arrested in connection with the incident, the police said: “Investigation into the incident has begun. Eight suspects were arrested in connection with the crime and are helping the police to nab the killers.”

The Commissioner of Police, FCT, Bala Ciroma, while urging the residents to support the police with information, reassured them of the command’s commitment to reduce crimes.
