Oloro said this at the Public Awareness on Coronavirus (Covid-19) and Lassa Fever and Inauguration of the council’s Emergency Preparedness Response (EPR) Committee at the council secretariat, Ojodu, Lagos.

“As we are all aware of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it is expedient that as a community, we take every proactive step in order to protect ourselves and forestall further spread.

The struggle against this deadly virus is a collective one due to its highly communicable nature. Therefore, all preventive measures and mechanism prescribed by Ministry of Health and medical officials must be strictly adhered to,” he said.

The council boss said as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is working around the clock to ensure that COVID-19 is nip in the bud, the council must complement his efforts.

“That is why this awareness is sacrosanct to sensitise the citizen about the virus, symptoms, transmission and preventive measures to be taken and also to inaugurate the council’s Emergency Preparedness Response (EPR) Committee. Informative materials are available to further portray the necessary details,” he said.

Oloro urged the residents not to panic; rather “we should cultivate effective hygiene practices. Also, in order to avoid disinformation and misinformation, ensure that all news and information about COVID-19 and Lassa fever are gotten from verifiable and reliable sources.

While the Government and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) are putting up different measures, it is imperative to appeal to us as good to heed to the precautionary instructions, especially the Governor’s directives on the closure of markets.”
