Ministry of Defence (MoD) Cooperative Multipurpose Society Ltd, Lagos, has added value to its members’ lives through loans, its President, Femi Obakoya, has said.
Obakoya said at the society’s 30th anniversary celebration at the Lagos State Cooperative Finance & Investment Society Ltd (LASCOFIS) Hall, Ogba, that over N1billion naira loans were given to members last year.
Obakoya said the cooperative was the biggest Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information (IPPIS) in the country with over 8,000 members.
Obakoya listed some of the initiatives started by the society to include MoD Cooperative Bottled Water Plant, MoD Cooperative Green House Farms, MoD Cooperative Farms, MoD Cooperative Private Hostel, LASCOFIS VIP Bar, Lounge & Accommodation managed by MoD Cooperative and MoD Cooperative Land & Housing.
He said: “The major reason we are here today is to mark the 30th anniversary of the MoD Cooperative. MoD is a unique cooperative in its approach in everything because we are spread all over the country. Anywhere there is military formation, we have members there. There is no Federal Government agency or parastatal that we don’t have members. We are the biggest in IPPIS. We have well over 8,000 members across the country and today we want to say thank you to the cooperative movement and Lagos State Government, who gave us an enabling environment to thrive for 30 years.”
