AMUWO Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State has put arrangements in place for the auctioning of unclaimed abandoned containers and trucks seized by the council.
This is happening after notice of evacuation that had lasted beyond 21 days of compliance, was earlier issued to the owners and the public.
By July 11, the owners of the abandoned containers and trucks at Amuwo Odofin Industrial Area had defaulted in obeying the local authorities, which had issued a 21-day ultimatum to those concerned in June to decongest the area, removing their abandoned containers, which had posed security threat to the community over the years.
Following non-compliance and on the expiration of notice of evacuation, Amuwo Odofin Local Government, on the directive of Dr. Valentine Buraimoh, the executive chairman of the local government, began the evacuation of abandoned containers on the red and green zones within the local government on July 20.

The seized containers have been relocated to Abule-Ado Area Office of the Amuwo Odofin Local Government.
The local government said owners of the seized containers and trucks should within 21 days make themselves available at the Abule-Ado Area Office of the council to claim their seized containers and abandoned trucks with a proof of genuine ownership.
It said failure to adhere or comply with the directive from the government that was poised to serve the people better, within the stipulated period, would place the local government on a legal pedestal to impound the containers and trucks with outright forfeiture of same.
