COVID-19: Givanas foundation donates food items, hygiene products

Givanas foundation has announced the donation of over 45million naira worth of hygiene products and relief items to individuals across 12 states in the country.

The Managing Director, Givanas Industry, Mr. Samir Ajami in his remarks, said the foundation reckoned with the need to support the government with the distribution of palliatives to vulnerable Nigerians across states.

Ajami disclosed that the foundation, which is a subsidiary of Givanas industry was initially setup to promote quality education amongst Nigerian Citizens. Speaking further, he said the foundation became aggressive during this period to distribute its hygiene materials to states across the southwest.

“With donations from our parent company; Givanas and friends of our organization, the foundation has donated relief items in form of food and soaps to people across the country. Some of the areas in Lagos state where we have residents who were beneficiaries of our palliative include Shomolu, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Kosofe, Agege and Surulere”. He said.

Meanwhile, he commended the government for its efforts so far in the fight against the ravaging COVID-19 in Nigeria and further advised the government to improve the state of Nigeria’s medical facilities during this period.

While calling on key players in private sector, he said, “This is the time to show our social responsibility and capability in assisting government in fighting the disease. I want to appeal to other companies that have not made their contribution, to come out and assist the government at large”

The marketing manager, Givanas Industry, Ms. Linda while speaking about the palliatives distributed, said, “In total we have reached out to over 50,000 citizens. We adhered to social distancing rule while giving out the soap (Medicell) and other items. We gave 2 bars of soap out to each person and educated them on the importance of handwashing.

“The soap is being donated as part of our relief materials because it is a medicated soap. The soap is highly needed now, it is an antibacterial soap which can kill germs and protect families.”
