Government workers and Civil Servants in Katsina state are expected to resume work on Monday June 9 as directed by Governor Aminu Bello Masari who called for resumption of duty of all workers of the state and local government councils on normal basis.
A Circular signed by the Permanent Secretary for Administration in the office of Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Lawal Ado Dutsinma said the approval followed the lifting of all forms of ban and restrictions under lockdown in Katsina state.
It states: ‘’Permanent secretaries and Chief Executive Officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to ensure enforcing of experts formulated guidelines and protocols for the resumption of work by the workers’’.
“Such guidelines and protocols include provision of hand washing facilities in their respective ministries, departments and agencies-MDAs. Workers should also be mandated to wear facemask at their duty post and ensure the enforcement of social and physical distancing in the offices’’.

In a related development, the Governor has also directed the re-opening of all weekly major markets in the state.
A statement signed by the Secretary to Government of the state, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa said the directive followed a regular review meeting between the government and other stakeholders on the measures being taken to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection in the state .
He explained that re-opening the markets followed the drop in the emergence of new Covid-19 cases and the concern of government on the adverse effects of shutting down the markets on the socio economic activities and well being of majority of the people in the state.
Masari however warned the people that re-opening the markets does not mean that there is no corona virus in the state, stressing that it still does exist.
He emphasized the need for people to strictly abide by the health and security protocols such as consistent wearing of the facemask, maintaining of social and physical distancing as well as constant washing of hands with soap and hand sanitizers.
The affected markets are Charanchi, Mai-aduwa, Mashi, Dandume, amongst others.
