Operators of commercial tricycles popularly known as Keke in Anambra state have commended Governor Willie Obiano for waiving two months payment of Internally Generated Revenue to assist them contain the ravaging effect of coronavirus.

State Chairman of Transport Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) Chief Sylvester Obiora made the disclosure on Monday in Ogbaru during the distribution of face masks to the members.

He said government was aware of the economic implications of reducing the number of passengers they carry.

He said , “Governor Willie Obiano has waived two months of the IGR payment from us because of the biting Covid-19 pandemic.

“From April to end of May, government is not collecting any money from keke operators. We pay #350 every day for each keke and I thank the governor for his support and encouragement.

“We are distributing the face masks to support the government and for keke riders to abide by the policy of government on covid-19, it is real and if one says it is not, let it not start with keke people.

“Any member who goes contrary to the directives does so at his own risk as the association will not be held responsible for such misbehaviour.”
