Pertinence Group, a people empowerment firm, has said the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic should spur entrepreneurs to be creative to survive the harsh economic reality.
Chief Executive of Pettysave, a subsidiary of Pertinence Group, Abel Adejoh, spoke at the inauguration of the firm’s headoffice in Egbeda, Lagos.
Executive Director of the group Mr Wisdom Ezekiel said Pertinence group ‘’is a people empowerment company… because it is people that will take us to the next level’’.
Mr Sunday Olorunsheyi, executive director, explained that the company transcended from a people empowerment company through real estate to become a “financial” technology hub.
He said through partnerships, the group expanded from one to about eight different subsidiaries, making it a global firm through technology.
‘’Pertinence Group is a classic example of how partnership should work in this part of the world.
“…when we look at some of the biggest valuable companies or corporation in the world today like Google, Facebook, Apple … even Microsoft, they have more people as founders and yet their businesses are becoming trans generational.
‘’It is not so common in Africa but I think ours is changing the narrative,” he said.
He said ‘’partnership must start by understanding, with two or more people going to the same direction and destination’’, arguing that most of the problems with ‘’partnership is when two or more people come together but have different destination’’.
“We are not trying to say partnership will always be perfect and rosy, we have seen a few challenges but we want to say that being together over a decade, we are yet to have a single crisis as partners …” Olorunsheyi said.
Ezekiel said dedicating Pertinence place would further enhance service delivery and enhance our business process, thus giving people a better working environment.
The five-storey building, which was inaugurated by renowned economist, Professor Pat Utomi, houses only the parent company, Pertinence Group and a few of its eight subsidiaries – Pertinence Property Limited, Realvest Technologies and Datavest Technology.
“For us to improve processes, we have to put up a conducive environment, so it’s not just the building we are dedicating but we are also improving ourselves as a company and improving our services…” Adejoh said.
