Taraba Governor Darius Ishaku does not need to test for coronavirus since he has not exhibited symptoms, Commissioner of Health Innocent Vakkai has stated.
The commissioner explained that Ishaku has not traveled to any of the countries hit by the pandemic.
He also said the governor did not meet with Nigerians or anyone who has tested positive to the disease.
Vakkai, alongside the Commissioner of Information Danjuma Adamu and members of the Taraba Technical Committee on Coronavirus in the State, briefed reporters in Jalingo on the state’s efforts in curbing the incursion and spread of the pandemic yesterday.
He assured that since the outbreak of the virus: “There is no single reported case in Taraba state.
“In other words, we are free of COVID-19 and we hope to maintain this position and we depend on the cooperation of our people.”

Many Governors from other states have tested their status and made their results public.
The Taraba governor and his cabinet members have not been tested, raising growing concerns from Tarabans about their statu.
But the Commissioner for Health said: “The governor, his deputy and members of the executive cabinet and Technical Committee and other Tarabans do not need to worry about going for test.
“All of us have been within the state and have not exhibited the symptoms. So, there is no cause for alarm, except the need arises.”
He however revealed that two suspected patients from Gashaka and Zing local government areas who had sore throat, nasal congestion and other mild symptoms of the pandemic were tested and confirmed negative by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
