CSOs rise in defence of ASD daughter’s embattled ex-husband

A coalition of Northern based Civil society organizations have risen in defence of Abubakar Musa-Abubakar, the embattled husband of Nasiba, daughter of a Kaduna-based multi millionaire, Alhaji Sani Dauda.

The organizations, nine in numbers on the platform of the Civil Society Groups for the Defence of Human Rights, Justice and Equity, urged Dauda, a former Chairman of the Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited, to stop interfering in the marriage of her daughter.

The coalition include the Arewa Youth Assembly, Global Association of Christian an Muslim Youth for Peace and Development, Arewa Youth Federation, Arewa Youth Council of Nigeria, Coalition of Concerned Nigeria Students, Competence Governance for Accountability and Civic Trust and Guardian for Democracy and Development Initiatives as well as Northern Women Assembly of Nigeria.

The Nation recall that, the police in Kaduna had in November arrested Alhaji Sani Dauda, a Judge of Sharia Court in the State, Murtala Nasir, son, Shehu Dauda, for giving Nasiba out for marriage to another husband, Abdullahi Kumali.

It was alleged the order to arrest Dauda, who is also a former Chairman of the Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited, the Sharia court judge, Shehu Dauda and the groom, Abdullahi Kumali, came from Musa – Abubakar said to be an allied of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

But clarifying in at separate press conference held at the Arewa House, Kaduna, spokesman of the coalition, Musa Kankara said from investigation, the husband of the millionaire daughter was yet to divorce his estranged wife as of the time she was married off to her new husband.

He said the arrest of the Dauda, son and the sharia judge was based on petition written by the embattled husband, Abubakar against the new marriage.

He said rather than the father interfering in the marriage, there was need for both sides to ensure that the status quo be maintained as pertaining marriage between Nashiba and Abubakar.

“We call on all Islamic scholars to stand on the side of truth and Justice rather than biasedly siding with Nasiba and the Alhaji Dauda’s family

“We wish to state that we shall not rest on our oars until justice is served and seen to be served,”he said.

Also, in another press conference in support of the millionaire businessman’s family, the Concerned Northern students said the family of Abubakar Musa Abubakar (ex-husband) and that of the arranged wife, ensure that the matter was resolved with accordance to northern tradition.

They called on traditional rulers and other relevant authorities to intervene and ensure that justice was done.

One of the leaders of the group, Ibrahim Mohammed who addressed newsmen urged both sides to “retrace their steps by employing the age long tested tradition of Northern Nigeria of settling matrimonial issues as against the present attitude of smear campaign is columny against Nusaiba, a youth of Northern Nigeria.

“We the concerned youths and students of Northern Nigeria are calling on northern traditional rulers, religious leaders and other relevant authorities to intervene and do justice.”
