How did two brothers get into the freezer where they were found dead in their Ikorodu, Lagos home on Sunday?
This is the puzzle the police are to unravel as investigation hots up into the case.
The boys’ father, Michael Edeh, who has been helping the police in their investigation, has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos.
Emmanuel, 7, his brother, Darasimi, 4, and their dog were found dead in a deep freezer at Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Ikorodu.
Police spokesman Chike Oti told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday that Edeh was transferred to Panti CID for further interrogation to ascertain the cause of his children’s death.
“I have confirmed the matter and the commissioner of Police (CP) directed that the deceased’s father be brought to notice to know his ulterior motive or whether it is an act of negligence,” Oti said.
The home of the Edehs was locked when NAN visited yesterday.
One of their neighbours, who preferred anonymity, said: “It is only God that can determine the cause of the children’s death.
“How can the children die in such a manner and their father was inside the house sleeping?
“I think it is beyond human imagination. The only thing that can be done is autopsy to educate them on the cause of the children’s death,” he said.
Another neighbour, Mr. Kamoru Adewale, said: “Since the matter has been handed over to the police, everything will be done to unravel the mystery behind the children’s death.”
