The apex pan-Ndokwa socio-cultural organisation in Delta State, Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), has scheduled a meeting for leaders and stakeholders in the Ndokwa project to meet and resolve the stalemate plaguing the body.

A statement on Monday by Secretary to NNU’s Board of Trustees (BOT) Chief Henry Okechukwu said the meeting would hold on Saturday at the palace of Eze-Emu of Emu Kingdom Johnson Ekpechi Ullu, who also chairs the BOT.

Expected at the meeting are BOT members, representatives of NNU (affiliates & branches), the political and business class, as well as traditional rulers. But following COVID-19 restrictions, only those invited would be admitted to the meeting.

Chief Okechukwu said the gathering would drive the peace process and discuss topical issues affecting Ndokwa.

He noted that adding the meeting was in line with Article 12 and relevant sections of NNU’s constitution, which emphasise wider consultations before major decisions are taken.

The statement averred: “After due consultations with the Chairman, BOT of NNU, HRM Johnson Ekpechi Ullu, the Eze-Emu of Emu Kingdom, and members of the BOT, I am happy to inform you that in compliance with Article 12 and other relevant sections of the NNU Constitution, a meeting of the BOT and representatives of NNU branches, affiliates and other stakeholders of the NNU will hold on June 27, 2020.

“Please note that while many stakeholders will want to attend, we are mindful of COVID-19 – social distancing policy which, of course, will be our guide as we admit attendants.

The political class will be represented by two politicians from Ndosumili and Ukwuani and attendance is by invitation,” it said.

For the BOT secretary, it was time for all Ndokwa sons and daughters to close ranks for the growth and development of the human and material resources in Ndokwa, saying no nation could develops under crisis.

Ndokwa comprises three local governments: Ukwuani, Ndokwa West and Ndokwa East, and hosts the largest gas deposit in West African sub-region.
