Activities for the Local Government Council elections billed for today, Saturday, March 6 in Delta state, began on a smooth note in Warri and its environs.
The Nation observed the skeletal movement of persons and vehicles on major roads and streets across the twin cities of Warri and Effurun in Uvwie council area of the state, in compliance with the restriction of movement directive by the Delta State Police Command.
However, voting was yet to commence at most polling units between 8 am and 9:30 am.

At about 8:45 am, officials of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC), were seen distributing electoral materials at the Warri South council secretariat to electoral Ward officers.

Members of political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), who were assigned to supervise the distribution of materials were seen at the venue.
There was a heavy security presence at the venue of the distribution exercise.
In a chat with journalists, the Chief electoral officer posted to Warri South LGA, Mrs Mary Fregene, said there had been no “hitch in the process of distributing materials.”
