Traders in Anambra state have commended Governor Willie Obiano for the decongestion and relocation of streets traders and markets to their permanent sites in the state.
The traders, under the aegis of Anambra Traders’ Forum (ATF) said the ongoing demolition of illegal structures in some markets by the ministry of Trades and Commerce led by Chief Uche Okafor had reduced frequent cases of fire incidents in the state.

He applauded the governor over the release of N10 million for the developmental projects in all the markets in the state, describing him as the most traders’ friendly governor in the Southeast.
He said the traders would also remain grateful to the Commissioner for taking the bull by the horn by insisting that all the streets markets should be relocated to their permanent sites to save innocent citizens from major accidents and fire incidents occasioned to congestion.
He said, “We want to commend governor Obiano and the Commissioner for damning the cabals who wanted markets to remain congested for their selfish reasons by demolishing illegal structures and enforcing relocation of traders to their permanent markets to avert looming disasters especially in Onitsha.
“We want government not to relent from this gesture because nothing good comes easy.
While lauding the ongoing decongestion and enforcement of relocation to permanent site of Provision and Cosmetics market Ogbunike, Ogbunka urged the government to extend the exercise to other congested areas.
The group called on traders with permanent structures but located wrongly to peacefully relocate to the assigned places without being forced.
