Deputy Director of Child Development in Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mrs. Adenike Obilana has said non-government organisations should empower the vulnerable to rebuild their confidence and make them responsible.
She spoke at a special yuletide programme organised by VCDF and Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Co (SEEPCO) with the Ministry of Youth and Social Development for special persons.
The organisation visited three facilities – Ipaja Transit Home (for trafficked persons), in Iyana-Ipaja, Ketu Special Children Centre, and Correctional Centre for Junior Boys, Ojota.

She said we overlook victims of trafficking, domestic violence, special needs and abandoned children in correctional centres or orphanages.”
She said reaching out to them is a powerful catalyst to foster and promote their inclusion in the society.”
At Ipaja, VCDF renewed the hope of over 32 exploited, abused and traumatised residents and six caregivers, while over 75 residents and 47 caregivers were ‘touched’ at Ketu, and at Ojota, food, and educational materials were distributed.
