Dickson to Muslims: be at peace with others

Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson has urged Muslims to continue to live in peace with followers of other religions.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the governor said peace remains the panacea for the development of the country.

He noted that the current division along religious lines was affecting the growth of the country.

Dickson tasked Muslim leaders to always promote religious tolerance, peace and unity in their teachings.

Congratulating Muslims on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, the governor also them to continue to pray for the unity of the country.

He said: “I call on Muslims to live in peace with one another, irrespective of any differences. As they celebrate Eid-il-Fitr, they should uphold the vital lessons of love, peace and perseverance which the holy month teaches.

“I also urge Muslims to pray for the nation’s leaders to remain focus in the discharge of their duties for the overall interest of Nigerians.”
