Distressed building sealed on Lagos Island

THE Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), on Sunday, sealed a four-storey building with visible signs of distress at 17, Obadina Street, Lagos Island.

General Manager of the agency, Biola Kosegbe, stated that the building was sealwed following a tip-off.

Kosegbe said that the officials found out that the building had clear signs of internal distress.

Kosegbe, an engineer, said the building would be assessed further by the agency’s structural engineers, while the Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory will also conduct appropriate structural stability tests on the structure.

He said that residents of the building have been advised to find alternative accommodation pending the conclusion of all stability tests.
