Don’t disappoint Kwarans, clerics counsel Abdulrasaq

Muslim clerics Monday counseled the Kwara state governor-elect Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq not to disappoint the people of the state.

In a brief sermon, an Ilorin based Islamic preacher, Ustaz AbdulRasaq Ibrahim, urged the newly elected APC political leaders in the state not to disappoint the people who elected them into positions of
authority.

He warned that “people may revolt if their expectations are not met.”

He urged the new government to promote people-oriented programmes so as to improve the welfare of the residents, saying that they should not be discriminatory in spreading development, but should let it cut across all parts of the state.

Ibrahim prayed for prosperity, peace and abundance in the state.

Another Islamic preacher at another prayer programme, Sheikh Soibu Bayana urged Kwarans not to rejoice over the APC candidates victory at the polls, but to the appreciative of God’s doing.

He urged all the leaders of APC in the state to bury their personal interest and make the overall interest of the masses of paramount important.

He said: “There was a general disenchanting and disillusionment among the people of the state during the collapsed of Saraki dynasty that is why we opted for APC, but if you disappoint us we will also revolt
against you.”

On his part, the Chief Missioner of Kwara state NASFAT Alhaji Abdullahi Alaya said the governor-elect had reaped bountifully from the good deeds of his aged father, urging all the members of the
Abdulrazqs to be more united than before.

“The victory is not for you, it is for the people of the state,” he said, urging APC the governor-elect and APC leaders to guide against all forms of ethnic, religious or regional discriminations.

The clerics spoke made the admonition in Ilorin, the state capital at separate thanksgiving session organized for the victory of the governor-elect and elected officers.

One of the prayer sessions was at the instance of an APC stalwart, Hon. Moshood Mustapha. The event coincided with the 56th birthday of the former member of the House of Representatives.

The governor elect, AbdulRazaq was among top party leaders in the state that attended the prayer session.

Also speaking, the organiser of the prayer, Mustapha, said that the victory of the APC in the state called for sober reflection, saying that the new leaders should be prepared to chart way forward for the
betterment of the people.

The former governorship aspirant also stressed the need for the incoming government to attract federal presence, and improve on existing infrastructure in the state.

He expressed confidence that private business background of the governor elect, would help him run the state well.
