Wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has urged children suffering disability not to harbour feelings of rejection and dejection saying the state government is committed to helping them achieve their full potential.
She spoke at the Ministry of Education Christmas Carol organised for children with special needs at the Parade Ground, Police College,Ikeja,Lagos.
The event, which had as theme: “The future is accessible”, was aimed at celebrating and showing love to the children suffering different forms of disability.
The governor’s wife expressed her gratitude for being invited as the Special guest of honor at the 2019 Celebration of Children with Special Needs In Lagos State.
She said: “I urge you never to feel rejected or dejected. The government of Lagos State under the administration of Mr Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, is determined to help you achieve your full potential.”
Stressing that the governor is concerned about their well-being and sees them as members of the society, she appreciated the efforts of teachers/care-givers in the Special Schools and their Inclusive Unit.

Also,Commissioner for Education,Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, also urged the members of the public to embrace the people living with disability and encourage them.
“I urge you to support and contribute morally and financially to the education of the less privileged because there is ‘ability In disability’,” she said.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs Abosede Adelaja, charged the parents of the children to bring them to the Special Schools to aid their learning and develop their potential.
“We want parents to please bring out these children, let’s enroll them in our Special Schools, so that their potentials can be highly developed,” she said.
Parents Forum Chairman, Modupe Cole Memorial Child-Care Home School, Evang. Babatunde Willoughby, thanked the government and the Ministry of Education for coming up with such a beneficial programme.
