Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has urged the Governor-elect of Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo to show magnanimity in victory and work for the people of Edo to elevate the current status of the State in

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, the Deputy Speaker applauded the people of Edo state for returning APC to power in the State saying the party was consolidating its success in Southern Nigeria.

Kalu congratulated Edo state governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo and his Deputy, Hon. Dennis Idahosa on their victory in the just concluded September 21, 2024 governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo and his running mate, Idahosa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winners of the Governorship election after polling a total of 291,667 votes to beat Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored 247,655 votes and the Labour Party candidate, Olumide Akpata with 22,763 votes.

Kalu also commended the electoral umpire, INEC and the security agencies for ensuring that the electoral process ran seamlessly without the breakdown of law and order in the State.
