Leadership crisis has hit the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Edo State.
Odion Olaye and Saturday Oamen both claim to be chairman.
Olaye is recognised by the national leadership. But Oamen, in a petition to stakeholders, said Olaye refused to hand over to him in defiance of a National Industrial Court ruling.
He said the Akure division of the Industrial Court, on March 13, 2018, removed Olaye.
Oamen said the union’s constitution gave elected officers two terms of four years each.
He said: “Olaye was elected in 2003 he should have finished his eight-year tenure in 2011. It is worrisome for him to be occupying the office despite a ruling which sacked him.
“On the strength of the judgment, we are by this letter directing him to vacate office in obedience to the order.”
NURTW’s National President Tajudeen Baruwa said Olaye would remain in office pending determination of the suit.
