The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has pledged support for the families of slain officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who were killed in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area by bandits a few weeks ago.
el-Rufai made the pledge when the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Audi, visited him at the Government House, Kaduna, following the incident.
He sympathised with the families and promised to provide support in terms of logistics, operational equipment, and working tools to improve its operation.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Service, Olusola Odumosu, said Governor el-Rufai lamented that the activities of bandits and incidences of attacks on innocent citizens have become worrisome.
He promised to enhance the closeness of security services to the grassroots and accessibility to the people by directing all local government chairmen to build more outposts for the corps in their councils.
He commended the CG for bringing about transformational changes in the corps, like the establishment of the Special Female Squad, which is driving the Safe Schools Initiative, among other efforts.
The NSCDC boss lauded el-Rufai for his magnanimity in remembering the bereaved families.
He also thanked him for more outposts he promised to build for the Corps in Kaduna state, stating that the gesture would facilitate easy communication, reinforcement of personnel and reduce response time to emergencies.
