Elections: CP urges officers to be neutral

Lagos State Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal has advised his men to be neutral and discharge their duties responsibly during the forthcoming elections.

He spoke during an unscheduled visit to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) parade ground in Alausa, Ikeja, at the weekend.

A statement yesterday said Edgal, who was with Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration and Finance) Elkanah Ayuba warned the officers not to allow themselves to be used by politicians. He urged them to be professional in the discharge of their duties.

He advised the officers to be courteous to the public and avoid acts capable of denting police image.

Edgal urged the officers to continue to respond to distress calls speedily and give Lagosians psychological comfort at all times.

He said: “Avoid leaving your beats, handle your arms professionally. Senior officers should supervise subordinates and ensure professionalism. Remember your allegiance to the Force at all times.”
