Emir of Kano calls for fasting, prayers

The Emir of Bichi in Kano State, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, has charged his subjects to observe a three-day fasting and special prayers for God’s intervention against the spread of COVID-19 in the emirate, Kano State and the country at large.

The emir made the call while addressing newsmen in his palace yesterday.

Alhaji Ado Bayero directed people in the emirate to desist from public gathering and clean their hands and environment always.

He said the call had become necessary considering the emergency situation over COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

The Emir charged people to report any symptoms of coronavirus to the nearest health centre in their domains and commended the state and federal governments for the steps they are taking to stop the spread of the virus in the country.

He also directed district, village, ward heads, Imams and Qur’nic school teachers to intensify prayers for Allah’s protection against the disease.

The Emir also suspended the emirate sitting and other public gathering in the emirate for two weeks.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to maintain peace and unity among the people of the emirate, the state and the nation as a whole.
