The member representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Tijani Damisa has trained and empowered over 150 farmers to boost soya bean production in the state.
The programme which was held at Ebira Muslims Community Secondary School, Okengwe, Okene Local Government Area is part of an effort to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic and was organised by SAMEC Limited in collaboration with the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN).
Addressing beneficiaries at the end of the three-day capacity-building workshop at the weekend, a consultant with the ARCN, Dr J. O Olasoji said that the training workshop focuses on modern techniques in soya bean farming.

Olasoji said the over 150 participants were trained on effective cultivation of soya bean and its uses especially in the production of soya milk to provide nutrients for Nigerians during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
He urged other lawmakers and political appointees in the state to emulate such kind gesture to reduce poverty in their various constituencies.
Damisa, who expressed satisfaction with the success of the workshop stated it was designed to engage the youths and the women of his constituency in the profitable venture and assist in alleviating poverty in the communities.
