Enang lauds President’s efforts to ensure food security

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang, has lauded the measures introduced by President Muhammed Buhari to ensure food security and restoration of peace in volatile areas across the country.

The presidential aide spoke after meeting with stakeholders in his office in Abuja.

He noted that the temporary closure of the border by the Federal Government had boosted agriculture.

Enang said the closure of the border had also impacted positively on the economy.

“Many people who have been out of job are now taking to rice, cassava and millet farming. So, the (border) closure has positively increased the revenue generation of the country,” he said. Advising that the boarders should not be reopened for now, Enang urged governors, particularly those in the Southsouth, to support the government measure and invest massively in agriculture.”
