Ex-militants to Akeredolu: fulfil your Amnesty promise

Aggrieved former militants in Ilaje and Eseodo local government areas of Ondo State have said they were fed up with the alleged unfulfilled promises of the government on Amnesty programme.

The repentant militants submitted their weapons to the state government on November 30, last year, at Arogbo centre in Ese-Odo Local Government Area, following an agreement by the government to integrate them into the Amnesty programme of the Federal Government.

But one year after, they said there was no response from the Federal Government on their integration and payment of what was due to them.

A statement by one of its leaders, Bowei Felix (Kaka Duku I of Niger Delta) and four other “Generals”, including Bekewei Iyaboerigha, Akpos George, Mefun Kenneth and Eddy David (aka Ijebu) said they had suffered untold hardship, since they laid down their arms.

They threatened to recover their arms and return to the creeks, where they belong, if the government failed to redeem its pledge immediately.
