The Rasak Bello-Essa family has warned those encroaching on the family land to desist from it.

The family said the property in Offa, Kwara State was grossly abused by transgressors, who do not have right to the land.

At a conference in Lagos, the head of the family Taiwo Bello-Essa said the land spreads across Moselu, Opekan and Igbonaa had become subject of dispute after their father died mysteriously in 2001.

According to him, all efforts to unravelled the cause of death of the late Rasaq Bello-Essa was futile.

Taiwo, who addressed the conference in the presence of his twin brother Kehinde, said those encroaching on the land was led by Hon. Wasiu Gbenga from offa, Kwara State.

Bello-Essa added that the land disputed was currently handled by the family solicitor, stressing that efforts to make those violating the family land to retrace their steps have been resisted.

He said: “Many lands are in Offa, but the ones that belong to Essa family has become a problem because those who are not even family members are bent on collecting our patrimony.

“What put us in this situation is because our father Razaq was killed mysteriously. When we demanded to know what killed him, our own lives were threatened, that if we continue to demand for it they will kill us as well.

“The matter was reported to the police in Offa and all those we fingered in the land matter were warned to stay off, but to our dismay they had continued to encroach on the land. ”

Responding to the allegation, Gbenga said what they said was not true. According to him, the Ataji Soro compound is made of several families which Rasaq Bello-Essa is one of them.

He added that when the land was share the family of Bello-Essa was given its due, adding that whatever challenge they were facing should be handled by their family.

“We are not from the same family but the same compound. When the land was share their family  got 12 plots of land. I belong to a different family, therefore they should approach their family to resolve the matter.”
