A Professor of Health Economics and Outcomes Francis Fatoye has been appointed as Extraordinary Professor of Lifestyle Diseases (Research Entity) of the Faculty of Health, North-West University (NWU), South Africa.
He will occupy the position for three years effective from June 1.
Fatoye is also Director, Centre for Health, Psychology and Communities at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), and the Academic Director, Research, Evaluation and Analysis in Care and Health (REACH).
He is one of the very few black professors in the UK, and the first and only Nigerian physiotherapist/Nigerian-trained physiotherapist to attain the position of Professor in a UK University
By this appointment, Fatoye will bring to bear his distinction in scholarship and vintage leadership to advance academic exchange and strengthen relations between NWU and the MMU.
Prof. Fatoye attended St Joseph Primary School, Isanlu, and St Kizito’s College, Isanlu both in Kogi State, Nigeria. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University Ibadan (UI); MBA from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko; MSc Sports Medicine from the University of Nottingham UK; PhD Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University UK, and an MSc Health Economics and Health Policy from the University of Birmingham UK.
He has international reputation for his expertise in Global Health Economics; Economic Evaluations; Outcomes Research; Real World Evidence; and Musculoskeletal Disorders. He has contributed to a number of funded research studies. His research findings have been published widely with over 240 high quality peer-reviewed journal and conference publications.
