NOLLYWOOD actor Femi Jacobs was among leaders that gave inspirational talks at the seventh edition of Dabira Women Conference which recently held in Lagos.
With the theme, ‘Bruised but not broken’, one of the sessions, an all-male panel, which featured Femi Jacobs, Peter Linus, Adewale Adejana, Christopher Omoijiade, used their personal experiences to encourage their audience. The female panellists were Banke Sotomi, Elyshia Brooks and Anthonia Ojenagbon.
The event was moderated by CEO of ZEdgeconsulting and the media host of realtalkwithkike , Kikelomo Atanda-Owo popularly known as Kiki.
Addressing the crowd, award-winning Nollywood actor, Femi Jacobs, said our behaviour could be determined as a result of the unresolved the trauma we had from our past.
“You need to meet yourself, the demonised version of you before you meet someone else. Do you know your traumas; do you know where they’re located? If you don’t deal with your trauma/pain, you’re going to inflict pain on others unknowingly. When you identify and deal with your traumas, you’ll be less likely to inflict pain on your partner.”
On her part, Ojenagbon revealed how her uncle molested her as a younger girl and made her hate marriage. She, however, advised the women to be careful as there were many dangerous men out to exploit them but, “there are still good, God-fearing guys out there, stop settling. To all survivors, there is life after abuse. Women, be shameless, don’t allow the world to use shame to keep you silent and prevent you from speaking your truth.”
