FG appoints new CMD for Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital

The Federal Government has approved the appointment of Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe, as the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH).

It could be recalled that Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe was appointed acting Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in October 2019 after the tenure of Professor Aminu Zakari, whose two terms of appointment as CMD expired on 10 October 2019.

The Federal Government announcement of the appointment was confirmed on Tuesday by the Management Board of the Hospital.

The Handing over of the letter of appointment and the swearing-in ceremony will take place on Thursday in Abuja at the Federal Ministry of Health.

Before his appointment in an acting capacity, Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe was chairman of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee.

The Nation reports that Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital was established in August 1988 when the Kano State Government formally handed over the then Aminu Kano Cottage Hospital to the Federal Government to be used as a Teaching Hospital.
