There was a fire on Sunday at the headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Road, Abuja.
The Nation gathered that the fire destroyed some important documents in some of the offices within the building.
But NIS authorities said the fire was promptly put out through the combined efforts of its Fire Department and other sister agencies nearby.
A source said it would be difficult to recover some official documents from the affected offices, considering the level of damage done to the building.

The NIS confirmed the incident through its twitter handle, @nigimmigration, saying the fire affected some of its offices.
It added that the fire was put out by operatives of its own fire station with assistance from sister-organisations around the airport.
“A fire incident occurred in our Service Headquarters this Morning. It affected some of our offices.
“The fire has been put out by our Federal Fire Station and support from other agencies around the Airport.
“The cause of the fire is being investigated. We assure the public that the incident will not in any way affect the discharge of our services,” the NIS said.
