An oil and gas company, Stallionaire, has donated an ultra- modern church building and three boreholes to Ekiti village in Obafemi Owode Local Government in Ogun State.
The residents, mainly peasant farmers, worshipped in a building constructed with a thatched roof for many years.
But succour came their way as the downstream operator handed over the tastefully furnished church building to the excited residents.
The handover ceremony attracted prominent sons and daughters of the village.
The company also fixed a major 10km road in the community to enable the farmers move their produce easily.
Stallionaire’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Deji Somoye, said the projects were part of his company’s corporate social responsibility.
He said: “I was driving to Abeokuta in late 2016 when I saw a group of old men and women serving God under a heavy downpour.
“It was raining heavily that day. My heart bled and right there, I called our Head, CSR Unit to include Ekiti Village as one of the beneficiaries of our CSR for the coming year.
“Today, the dream has come true and we thank God for His mercies.”
The three boreholes are strategically located in three different zones of the village.
The village head Alhaji Badiru Sobande thanked Stallionaire for the gesture.
He said he never witnessed this kind of generosity in his over 50 years as the village head.
He prayed for the company’s success and urged it to build a plant in the community.
