FIVE persons were feared killed while scores sustained varying degrees of injury during a robbery in Onitsha, Anambra State’s commercial capital.
The robbery which took place at a petrol station and pharmacy shop in the city came a few hours after the launch of super smart closed-circuit cameras (CCTVs) by the state governor Willie Obiano.
The Nation gathered that two females and three males were among the casualties of the attack which took place along Awka Road.
The robbers numbering about six were said to have driven into the petrol station at about 2.00am after being allowed access by the attendants who mistook them for customers.
“They shot dead one of the guards before gunning down a worker, who was woken up by the sound of gunshots.

“Another female sales attendant, who delayed when the masked pointer asked her for the key to the volt, was also killed,” the source said.
Some commuters plying the area, including night travelers, reportedly jumped out of their vehicles and scampered for safety.
The Nation further learnt that monies realised from the day’s sales at the petrol station were carted away by the suspects through the aid of pointer indicating where they were kept.
Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, when contacted, said, “We’re investigating the matter and will come out with our findings later.”
