Five killed in Osun, Rivers, Kwara

Gunmen have attacked farmers in Alapata village of Modakeke, Osun State, killing two persons.

The Nation learnt that the incident happened on Saturday when the farmers were on their farm.

Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident.

Five persons were killed in the area on August 20.

On Sunday, two persons were killed in the Ka-Bori area of Khana council of Rivers State.

Nine persons were earlier killed in Kono Boue and Gwara communities of the council.

A Ka-Bori source accused Kono Boue community of carrying out the attack, an accusation that was vehemently denied.

Police spokesman Nnamdi Omoni neither took the reporter’s phone calls nor did he respond to a text message sent to him.

Gunmen in military uniform on Saturday attacked a hotel in the Alapa area of Asa local government, killing one person and abducting another, it was gathered.

Police spokesman Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident yesterday.

Okasanmi said, “In an attempt to abduct the owner of the hotel, shots were fired by the invaders. One person was killed.”
