There was no government official to comment or inspect the flooded areas.
Residents of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, have enjoined the government to remove buildings and other obstructions along waterways, to avert disaster.
Some of them, who spoke with reporters at the flooded Unity bridge on AbdulWahab Folawiyo road, expressed concern about the perennial flooding in the areas bordering Asa River in Ilorin.
They attributed the development to the erection of buildings and shops along waterways and other encroachments on the setbacks, thereby blocking free flow of water.
