In a bid to give succor to the poor and vulnerable persons in the face of hardship caused by the coronavirus pandemic, a nongovernmental organisation, Rosula Foundation, has distributed palliatives to about 18,000 households across 12 locations in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The locations include Nyanya, Karu, Kurudu, Jikwoyi, Asokoro village, Apo, Jahi-Kado, Mpape, Gisiri, Kubwa-Lugbe, and Bwari.
The initiative, according to the NGO, which lasted for six days was aimed at giving succor to the poor and vulnerable persons in the face of hardship caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Presenting the palliative to the beneficiaries which include, beans, rice, corn floor and salt, a Volunteer of the Foundation, Modupe Olatunbosun, who led the team, explained that the gesture of the foundation under its humanitarian programme would last for a period of six days within the 12 locations.
“Majorly, this food intervention programme will go a long way in providing reliefs to the less privileged as well as the downtrodden who have been subjected to hardship by the outbreak of COVID-19”, she said.
She said: “In a day, we are reached up to 1500 to 2000 in Abuja within a period of six days.
Speaking on sustaining the gesture, she said the foundation hopes to start empowerment programme immediately after the distribution of palliatives.

“We don’t have a limit, this is just the beginning for the foundation”, she said.
In her remarks, President of the Foundation, Princess Rosemary Osula, called on Nigerians with enormous wealth and, resources to emulate the kind gesture by mainstreaming love to the needy.
While explaining that the Foundation have no affiliations with any interest group or political parties, she said the Project which commenced in Lagos, will capture the entire country.
“The Foundation is organised on a local, national and international levels with the aim to alleviate the impact of the social-economic and political realities in our world that are products of social, economic and political inequalities”.
Praises and appreciation greeted the distribution team as they move from one locations to another delivering the packages to persons living with disabilities and other poor persons.
A beneficiary of the palliative, Hafsat Aliyu, expressed delight at the humanitarian gesture of the Foundation.
“We are happy and we will remained grateful. We pray for the person who has done this for our people”, she said.
