A non-governmental organisation, Anthony Kupe Foundation has empowered children with disabilities by donating cerebral palsy chairs to no fewer than 15 children in Lagos.

Founder of the foundation, Anthony Kupe, himself suffering from cerebral palsy, noted that he came up with the initiative to give back to the society and have an impact on humanity.

“It is time for me to give back to the society because I have also benefitted from politicians, celebrities, among others. They sponsored me through school. I am not from a wealthy family,” he said.

Kupe who emphasised the need to give back to humanity, stated that despite suffering embarrassment and discrimination, he didn’t allow that to deter him from achieving his goals.

He noted that the chairs would help the children sit comfortably, with the belt holding them tight. He also said it would save their mothers the stress of strapping them to their back every time.

“The cerebral palsy chair is specially designed for people with the condition. It has a belt, and four tyres which makes it movable. It helps children to sit comfortably without falling. It also frees mothers from the stress of always backing their children,”he said.

A parent whose child was a beneficiary, Mr. Jide Adams, lauded the Kupe for the initiative despite suffering from cerebral palsy. He vowed to support the donor.

He said: “I will support you. What you have done is quite commendable, despite your own condition.”

Parents of other beneficiaries, while expressing their happiness, hailed the donor for the kind gesture.
