The Bridge Leadership Foundation has trained 467 students under the Leadership and Community Development (LCD) Programme and also trained 198 teachers under the Teachers Support Programme (TSP) across five local government areas of Cross River State.
According to the foundation, the essence of the leadership programme is to enhance essential academic, leadership and life skills support to students in public secondary schools, while the Teachers Support Programme has an objective to equip public secondary school teachers with holistic social skills.
The modules for the students’ workshop were on leadership, self-esteem and goal setting which were handled by different trained corps members and teachers in each of the local government area.
Also, activities to monitor students’ understanding of the modules were conducted in the form of questions and answers, remarks and contributions.
During the training, students who demonstrated clear understanding of the topics were rewarded with gifts such as mathematical sets and other educational materials.

The climax of the workshop was seeing the burning determination in the faces of these teachers and students, eager to facilitate the needed change in their localities, beginning in their schools. It is safe to say that an era of change agents has emerged.
The programme met its objectives and one of its achievements was humongous accomplishment in community involvement.
The Foundation expressed its gratitude to the Cross River State Ministry of Education for endorsing the programme, and also the NYSC Cross River State Secretariat, Board Members and the volunteers, including corps members for their esteemed support.
It also noted that with support from sponsors, they could further extend the programmes to a quarterly workshop just as requested by the participants, because such training needs to be conducted as frequently as possible to help strengthen their capacities and further enhance their level of growth.
