Four arraigned for dog-attack on Ikeja Electric officials

Four men who allegedly assaulted and unleashed their dog on Ikeja Electric workers have been arraigned before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The suspects, Joel Aisabor, 27, Victor Omonzokpea, 24, Ehis Omonzokpea, 20, and Prosper Nwaocha, 18, were arraigned on February 19 on a five-count charge of conspiracy, breach of peace, assault, causing body injury and unleashing dog on the victims identified as Olukanni Babatunde and Akanbi Adedayo.

Police Prosecutor Kenneth Asibor told the court that the alleged offences were punishable under Sections 411, 168(d), 172, 173 and 350(a) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.

He said the defendants on February 15, conspired and assaulted the victims, adding that Aisabor locked his gate and unleashed his dog on Babatunde which caused him body injuries.

Asibor alleged that the defendants also tore the uniforms of the victims.

When the charges were read to the defendants, they pleaded not guilty.

The court granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with a surety each who must provide two years tax evidence.

The case was adjourned till March 30 for mention while the defendants were taken to Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending when they meet their bail conditions.
