From Toba Adedeji, Osogbo
A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, on Thursday convicted four persons of violating stay-at-home government directives.
The convicts are Moshood Akinwale, 28, Oladimeji Sadique, 24, Dauda Abdullahi, 22, and Adewale Taofeeq, 28.
Police prosecutor Mr. Kayode Adeoye alleged that the defendants committed the crime on April 9, 2020, at about 12:10 pm, at Dugbe, opposite Freedom Park, Osogbo.
According to the charge sheet, the crime contravened sections 203 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The defendants admitted guilty of the two-count charges of disobedience and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
Counsel to the four convicts, Mr. Oladipupo Olatunbosun, urged the court to be lenient in sentencing them, noting that they have regretted their action.
He urged the court to warn and discharge them, considering the prison decongestion plan by the Federal Government.
The Magistrate, Mr. Olusegun Ayilara, who had convicted the defendants, thereby cautioned and discharged them.
