Free surgery for 1,550 in Kontagora

THE Sani Bello Foundation has conducted a surgical festival which offered free surgery and other medical services to 1,550 people in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State.

The Director General of the Foundation, Dr. Zakari Ikani said the surgical festival covered cases of fibroids, appendicitis, hernia, hydrocoelle, and sight conditions, among others.

Ikani, who spoke to newsmen in Kontagora, said the surgery commemorates the 77th birthday of the founder, Colonel Sani Bello, adding that it is in partnership with the Graceland Health Care Development in Kontagora.

“This is our founder’s way of giving back to the society to mark his 77th birthday by organising a free medical outreach to treat members of the public free of charge who cannot otherwise help themselves in areas of need. Our target for this outreach is 2000 persons,” he said.

He said that in the past four years, over 2,000 persons have benefitted from the free surgical outreach of the foundation in the state.

He explained that the gesture is besides other free medical assistance, scholarship and skill acquisition training offered to the people.

The Deputy Chief Medical Director of Graceland, Dr. Willams Ayet  said that his organization has been in partnership with Sani Bello.
