Minister of Works and Housing Mr. Babatunde Fashola has said the gap in the nation’s infrastructural needs is being bridged by a gradual process of repairs, renewal and building of major highways and other roads across the country.
He spoke while handing over the newly-rehabilitated 1.2-kilometre road built on the premises of the Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan, Oyo State, to the management.
The minister, represented by the Federal Controller of Works in the state, Mr. Kayode Ibrahim, said the efforts of the Federal Government in road infrastructure development “is being replicated in schools.”
He said 76 federal tertiary institutions had benefitted from the Federal Government intervention in internal road network projects.
He listed some of the federal road projects receiving attention across the state to include: Iseyin-Saki; Igboho-Sepeteri; Iseyin-Alaga-Okaka-Baasi; Ogbomoso-Igbeti; Oyo-Aawe-Iwo; Igboho-Igbeti, Ibadan-Ile-Ife-Ilesha and Oyo-Ogbomoso.
The Provost, Dr. Elizabeth Augustus, praised the Federal Government for the project, saying the rehabilitated road had improved accessibility and ease of movement in the institution.
Dr. Titus Ilori and Mr. Faruk Adedoyin, who spoke on behalf of the college workers and students, hailed the Federal Government for counting the school worthy of benefiting from road projects in its tertiary institutions.
