‘Give employers stimulus to avert lay-off, salary cut’

THE Labour-civil society situation room on COvid-19 has urged the Federal Government to advance stimulus package to employers to avert the massive lay-off of workers as well as prevent cut in salaries as a result of the impact of the virus on the economy.

The Labour group, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), affiliate unions in the frontline of the Covid-19 challenge, includidng Civil Society Organisations and professional groups, said the economic stimulus package being put together by the Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria, should be targeted at employers who have demonstrated iron-clad commitment to keep jobs, retain salaries and expand production.
