Telecommunications giant Globacom has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians on the country’s 20 years of uninterrupted civilian rule.

The firm also wished Buhari a successful second tenure.

A goodwill message yesterday in Lagos congratulated Nigerians for the country’s longest democratic run, and saluted the people’s sagacity, patience, tolerance and commitment to instituting veritable democratic tenets which will bring lasting growth and development to the country.

Globacom noted that this was the longest, unbroken dispensation in the country’s democratic history, and called on Nigerians to remain patriotic in the quest to build a stronger nation.

The statement reads: “As new leaders at both the states and national levels are being sworn in today, we look forward to them providing the much needed democratic dividends that would improve the living standards of all.”

The company urged the new leaders to evolve an enduring structure that would build an egalitarian society where all citizens would be free to pursue their legitimate ambitions irrespective of their political, religious or ethnic leanings.

The statement added: “The foundation for the emergence of a truly great nation is being laid by government. We are happy to be part of our growing democracy. The vast improvements made so far since the return to democratic governance in 1999, with the reforms in the political, economic, financial and telecommunication sectors, are necessary steps to steady growth.”
