Governor Radda urges golf club to promote Katsina through competitions

Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has urged members of the Katsina Golf Club to use professional golf tournaments to showcase and promote the state. 

Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony for the 2024 Governor’s Golf Cup, Radda commended the club for the invitation and highlighted his administration’s commitment to sports development. He noted that substantial budgetary allocations have been directed toward sports to foster growth and engagement. 

The governor stated: “My administration has promoted football development, including efforts to elevate the Katsina football club to a top-tier position in Nigeria’s premier league and the construction of stadiums in Charanchi and Daura.” 

Governor Radda also encouraged golfers to uphold excellence and sportsmanship, create opportunities, and unite stakeholders to build a conducive environment for sports development in the state.

Justice Sadiq Mahuta, the club captain, applauded the participants and emphasized that golf fosters relationships and encourages success. He also highlighted Katsina’s improved security, which has made it easier for people to travel to and from the state. 

The event underscored Katsina’s commitment to positioning sports as a tool for community engagement and state promotion.

The winners of the tournament include Gidado Aliyu from Katsina Golf Club: Best Gross, Salmanu Dalhatu from Katsina Club: Best Nett, Jamila Abdullah from Katsina Club: the Ladies category, Ibrahim Abdullahi also won Runner Best Nett, Bashir Adamu from Kano club won in Third category.

Winners also emerge in veteran and super veteran categories including Sani Labo from Katsina Club: the veterans, while Justice Sadik A Mahuta Galadiman Katsina, Former Deputy Governor Tukur Jikamshi, Senator M T Liman, Arch Mansur Ahmad Kurfi Dan Darman Katsina Alhaji Lawal Sada all slugged it out in the super veterans’ category.
